China boosts ecosystem protection with steady progress

China continues to improve its eco-environmental quality, with better air and water conditions and a consistent decline in PM2.5 levels. Over the past 20 years, it has established 903 national wetland parks, providing vital habitats for wildlife and strengthening ecological resilience. A newly released report on the ecosystems of Tiexian Jiao and Niu'e Jiao highlights the islands’ unique biodiversity and the need for targeted conservation. To illustrate the bond between nature and people, a Labor Day feature recognized animal "model workers" such as otters, alpacas, police horses and carrier pigeons, reflecting their roles in both ecosystems and daily life.
